House Council Meeting #6 - Minutes

November 5 , 2006

House Council Meeting 6

1. House Website- Type in “graham-house” when you’re on the UChicago server, and it’ll pop right up. If anyone has any problems with having their photo or information on the house website, please e-mail Ryan Sweeney or let him know in person. If you haven't checked this yet, beware- he randomly took a few people's photos from their facebooks and put them up on the website. Thanks Ryan! :-P

2. House Auction- $613 total was made from the auction. Yay! You must pay by Sunday, November 12, 2006. That’s in less than one week. Thanks.

3. We’re still in the process of selling the chocolate bars- Tiffany and Marie are still selling their bars. Marie will start bringing bars to the house meetings etc… So if you want chocolate, come to study breaks and house meetings to buy one for a dollar each.

4. We will probably be able to afford cable next quarter, if everyone pays for what they’re supposed to pay for. *coughcough* Stop being lazy/stubborn/retarded and give your money for the kitchen to Andy/Pat/Marie. Seriously. Five dollars, or get hunted down by Omar. Take your pick, guys.

5. T-Shirts- The Graffitti design that Ruben made won the vote. It may not come out exactly the way he drew it… But it’ll look pretty close to it. The price per person would be $12.05, with free shipping/delivery. Pay $6 now, $6 later; a deposit is needed so that we don’t order too many shirts for people who are dumb and change their minds later.

6. IM Sports- Football- our last game this Saturday! You guys all better come!!

7. Food- Omar went to the meeting about Bartlett; students have been complaining about various things in the dining hall regarding prices, etc. If you have any complaints, please tell Omar so he can represent you in the meetings. Our house can pick a pre-made Study Break made for us by Barlett for finals week, and your House Council has chosen one called “Take Me Out to the Ball Game”- it includes soft pretzels, lemonade, cracker jacks, etc etc etc.

8. Free Concert on Friday- meet Andy in the lobby at 7:40pm. Chanting at the Rockefeller Chapel.

i have no dumb jokes this week.

but i looked up these funny chicago laws that you might not have known are still in existence.
• In Chicago it is illegal to take a French poodle to the opera, and for women over 200 pounds (90 kilos) to ride horses in shorts.
• In Chicago, it is illegal to fish in pajamas.
• In Chicago, people who are diseased, maimed, mutilated, or "otherwise an unsightly or disgusting object" are banned from going out in public.
• It is illegal for anyone to give lighted cigars to dogs, cats, and other domesticated animal kept as pets.
• It is illegal to give a dog whiskey.
• It is legal to protest naked in front of city hall as long as you are under seventeen years of age and have legal permits.
• It is illegal to change clothes in an automobile with the curtains drawn, except in case of fire.
• Law forbids eating in a place that is on fire. well, thanks, illinois state law, for promoting safe behavior.

okay, that's all i've got. feel free to submit funny jokes to me, if you'd like. i'll be better prepared next week when i'm not as completely swamped with work :-/
